Make It at Home: Cheeseburger Recipe
A homemade version of the Five Guys Cheeseburger with similar nutrition and flavor.
Ingredients
- •190g (6.7 oz) 80/20 ground beef, divided into 2 patties
- •2 slices American cheese
- •1 sesame seed hamburger bun
- •Lettuce leaves
- •2 tomato slices
- •3 thin slices of onion
- •4 dill pickle chips
- •1 tablespoon ketchup
- •1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- •1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- •Salt and pepper
Instructions
- 1
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions. Form each into a loose ball and place on a hot griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Immediately press each ball flat with a sturdy spatula to about 12cm (5 inches) across and 0.5cm (1/4 inch) thick.

- 2
Season the patties with salt and pepper. Cook without touching for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are well-browned. Flip once and place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese melts and the internal temperature reaches 71C (160F).

- 3
Toast the sesame seed bun cut-side down on the griddle for about 1 minute until golden.

- 4
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Add lettuce and tomato slices.

- 5
Stack the first cheese-topped patty on the lettuce. Add onion slices, pickle chips, and a drizzle of ketchup and mustard. Place the second patty on top.

- 6
Close with the crown bun and wrap in foil for 1 minute to let the steam meld the flavors together, just like Five Guys does.
